adventures of batman, spiderman, bob the super builder and bunny girl

June 12th, 2008

I mentioned earlier that we were having Matthew and Tobi over for a raucous good time. And we did. And raucous it was.

Four and 18mos are great ages. Will and Matthew are old enough that they can play creatively (and nicely) with tinker toys for hours. Yesterday Will built a scaffolding-like structure that he was using as a camera. Today the boys assembled long propeller ended hair clippers and paddle boat pieces.

The littles (syl and tobi) dug in and tried to keep up, but mostly looked on in curiosity.

We capped the night dressed as super heros, canvasing the neighborhood in search of villains. Will as Batman (with super Will cape), Matthew as Spiderman, Tobi as super Builder in cape and goggles, and Sylvie as super bunny – shirtless with sparkly shoes and a bunny jacket. I foresee painful highschool years ahead. Perhaps Doug will be so kind as to post the super video.

We have a couple of films of your dad, me, and Uncle Fred sort of playing like this. One is very, very old, and was taken at Lake Whitney, in which your dad and MS uncle had cowboy gear and were drawing on each other and blasting desperadoes. Your dad was wearing a red cowboy felt cowboy hat. I had no cowboy outfit.

Oh, the other film was taken in about 1958, at the Old Tucson movie set, when Oma and Opa drove me and your dad out to visit Freddy, who was in boarding school there. The two old guys were cowboys again and somehow, I think once again I was an innocent bystander.
