You’d think he was the kids’ favorite sports team with their spontaneous shouts of support and impromptu pennant waving parades in his honor. Last night when asked which movie they wanted to watch, Sylvie yelled out, “Barack Obama movie! Yeah!” So, today, the kids made Obama signs. “We’re lucky because our neighbors only have one, but we have two.”

Oh, and apparently Barack Omama is married to Barack Obama.

I lean heavily to the left, but I have been researching Sarah Palin, Obama, McCain, and Biden because I don’t want to vote blindly. Women fought so hard to give me this right, I’m going to take it seriously. I feel that we should all be making educated decisions, so I wanted to pass along factcheck.org. Check it out next time you hear the candidates say something unbelievable.

it probably is not the great(est) depression

I’ve spent a lot of time reading about our previous economic crisis and their causes – the 15% APR on mortgages in the 80s, the S&L scandal, and the Great Depression – in an attempt to better understand how we got into those situations and what they meant for people like me, but mainly so that I could have fuel in heated discussions with heartless Republican friends – they could use a little educated enlightenment.

The New York Times had an interesting editorial on how our current situation differs from the Great Depression, and how we should not expect a burgeoning shanty-class, as long as we actually do something to shore up the economy.
